Great Plays are not Luck or by Chance.
Did you see the Super Bowl? I did. I am from Boston and our Team, The Patriots, won. There was a great game saving play, but first some context.
In the entire History of the Super Bowl, 53 years, the Patriots have been to the Super Bowl 11 times. Followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, 8 times. That is from among 32 teams in the NFL.
Bill Belichick, coach, and Tom Brady, quarterback, have been to 9 Super Bowls together. How? More than any other team.
I think I know how they are doing it. There was a great defensive play that may have won the game. Jason McCourty came out of no where and broke up a pass that saved the game. Here is a quote I saw from the Pats Pulpit sports blog.
"The Patriots were playing quarters coverage with their two safeties and boundary cornerbacks for most of the second half. Earlier in the drive, Patrick Chung left the game with a broken arm after getting it caught between Todd Gurley and Jonathan Jones on a run play. Veteran Duron Harmon would end up coming into the game in his place, but the Patriots secondary made a huge mental error..."
Well then I saw this Youtube Video and it show that this great play and McCourty out of no where was just not what happened. https://youtu.be/7gpTzVGqBuQ?t=968
What can you learn about becoming a Champion? Here is what I learned.
1. Pay Attention and make adjustments. Learn from everything. Early in the game there was a good defensive play but a mistake was made. The mistake did not go unnoticed by either coach. The Rams hoped to use it again successfully and the Patriots adjusted so as to not make the same mistake again. Pay Attention, learn.
2. We do it together. Coaches (Sponsors), Owners (SFI), and Players (Affiliates) we all work together for greater success.
3. Don't quit. don't rest on good results. Learn adjust and do even better.
4. Work hard, run hard, hit hard, play smart and you will win.
Do not underestimate your need to always be improving your capabilities. After winning one of their games 48 to 21, Belichick said in the locker room, "Great game. We just need to keep getting better and expect the competition to be greater next week. That is the way it is this time of year. Okay, lets get better."
