I can't concentrate on reading . What should I do?
See…there are various methods to improve concentration levels…but those methods are secondary. Firstly you should be interested to read a particular book, because until and unless you are not clear with ‘why’ you should read a particular book and how it will help you in improving, you won't be able to concentrate…
So first clear your ’why’ , and find your interest….there are several ways to improve concentration depending upon person to person…some of them can be.
Study what you love first. keep skipping everything else. Just study what doesn't feel like obligation. If your mind keeps distracting it is because you are not at “your thing”.
Increase your reading speed. When your reading speed decreases, your mind starts to search for any other distractions to grasp as it is moving faster than stimulus it is receiving.
Set a time limit to read a single page. It's a very powerful method to increase concentration. For example, 5 minutes to read a page. And do your best to read and memorize everything on that page within this time limit. In this way also your brain performs its best to help you memorize and understand the material quickly.
Read loudly for less distractions and less thoughts. It's a proven method for better concentration during study and is used by parents to help children focus on study all over the world.
Study early in the morning. Because our mind is very calm and ready to grasp everything we learn at this time. No any distracting thought will come in your mind it the morning. Because every distracting thought is almost forgotten after hours of deep sleep.
Again, Study what you love first. keep skipping everything else.Keep listing those thoughts on a paper that distract you during study. And decide not to think about these topics any more. Anything else will do. It works very well. Because your mind will not be able to find new topics to think about.
