Don't Forget 19th Nov, 2017 Will Be International Men's Day.

Yes folks it’s nearly here again, the big day in the calendar that men around the world have been waiting for: International Men’s Day. International Men’s Day was created in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago. The main purpose of the day is to focus on the health of males. Other aspects of the day include improving gender relations, showing that men can be positive role models, and promoting gender equality.

Over eighty countries celebrate Man Day, but it’s not always been like this. Most countries on the list such as the United States and the United Kingdom have only recently started to promote the day. International Men’s Day highlights the common bonds of humanity and aims to bring peace and healing to the world.

If you want to take part in events, look on-line to find one of many groups gathering together to have fun. Most places will have fun events with a “manly” theme, such as wrestling and rodeo bull riding. Some years, the coordinators of Man Day suggest a secondary theme to be taken into consideration. Although it’s not needed to follow these themes, most countries do as they allow each country to feel as if they’re part of something bigger.

International Men’s Day is a time for many people to reflect on the contributions, sacrifices and progress made by men in society. Such progress includes that of men working together with women to make educational, economic, social, and technological advances in society. Topics that may be discussed or showcased through various media, activities and events on the day may include:
  • Men’s and boys’ health.
  • The importance of gender equality.
  • Improvements towards gender relations in all societies.
  • Positive male role models for younger generations.
  • Men’s roles in community, family, relationships and childcare.
  • Healing and forgiveness.
Meetings, workshops or group gatherings may also be held on this day to focus on overcoming challenges such as domestic violence and drug abuse. International Men’s Day is supported by various organizations worldwide, including the United Nations (UN) and the Men's Network.

International Men’s Day is for society to appreciate the men in their lives and celebrate achievements.Ways of commemorating the day include festivals, fundraisers, seminars, TV programmes and marches. In contrast, to mark International Women’s Day, ladies have been urged to take annual leave tomorrow in a bid to demonstrate how valuable women are to the economy.
